Tarkenton

Mr. C. Todd Tarkenton– Principal 

Mr. Tarkenton is a proud graduate of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. He earned a B.S. in Kinesiology from the College of William and Mary in 1992. While teaching 7th and 8th grade science and coaching basketball and baseball at Landstown Middle School from 1995 to 2005, he earned his M.Ed. in Supervision and Administration from the University of Virginia in 2004. Mr. Tarkenton then served as an assistant principal at Ocean Lakes High School from 2005 to 2011. After receiving his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Regent University in 2010, he became the Director of Instructional Services in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in February, 2011. Mr. Tarkenton was appointed as principal of Green Run High School in July, 2013. Mr. Tarkenton resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, who is a teacher in VBCPS, and they have two sons, ages 19 and 17.

Lehner

Ms. Leslie Lehner– 12th Grade Assistant Principal 

Ms. Lehner is a graduate of Salem High School in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Tech, a M.Ed. in Secondary Education Mathematics from Old Dominion University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University. Prior to serving as an Assistant Principal at Green Run, Ms. Lehner served as an Administrative Assistant at Green Run High School, Algebra 1 and Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow teacher at Salem High School, and a 6th grade math teacher at Larkspur Middle School.

 Cosimano
Mr. John Cosimano– 11th Grade Assistant Principal  Mr. Cosimano is a proud product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools. After being a member of the 50th graduating class of Princess Anne High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2009. Mr. Cosimano then continued his education at Old Dominion University, earning a Master of Science degree in Secondary Education in 2012 and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership in 2014. He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Old Dominion University. Working and living in Virginia Beach all of his life, he began professionally as a high school science teacher at Princess Anne High School where he taught Earth Science, Chemistry, MYP Chemistry, Biology, IB Biology and AP Biology. Mr. Cosimano then moved to Kempsville High School to serve as School Improvement Specialist in June 2014. Next, in August 2015, he was able to serve at Virginia Beach Middle School as an Administrative Assistant before becoming a Stallion in July 2016. His wife, Katie Cosimano, is a VBCPS high school Student Activities Coordinator, his daughter Maggie, and new baby are growing up at school events like Mr. Cosimano - as both of his parents are retired secondary language teachers who spent 35+ years as active participants in their respective VBCPS school communities.

Gilchrist

Mrs. Mikaela Gilchrist– 10th Grade Assistant Principal 

Mrs. Gilchrist is a proud product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools, graduating from Salem High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech where she earned her B.S. in Communication.  Later she went on to earn her Masters in Special Education at Cambridge College and completed her advanced degree studies at The George Washington University in Educational Leadership and Administration. Mrs. Gilchrist began her career in public education with VBCPS as a Special Education Teacher at Landstown High School. While at Landstown she served as SCA advisor, Assistant Student Activities Coordinator, and coached the Forensics team.  Prior to her arrival at Green Run High School, Mrs. Gilchrist was the School Improvement Specialist at Independence Middle School. Mr. and Mrs. Gilchrist became the proud parents of a baby girl, Emory Louise, last fall.

Bacs

Mrs. Corey M. Bacs– 9th Grade Assistant Principal

Mrs. Bács is a proud graduate of First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  She earned a B.A. in Special Education and an M.Ed. in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University. In 2016, she earned her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University. Previously, Mrs. Bács worked at Green Run High School as the School Improvement Specialist. Mrs. Bács taught as a special education teacher, co-teaching English 6, at Virginia Beach Middle School and as a special education assistant at W.T. Cooke Elementary School. Mrs. Bács resides in Virginia Beach with her husband Charlie and is the proud mother of Ryley (Virginia Tech), Griffin (IT guru), and Miles (Hampden-Sydney).

Berthold

Ms. Bridget Berthold– School Improvement Specialist

Ms. Berthold is a proud graduate of Tallwood High School in Virginia Beach.  She earned her BS in Science at Old Dominion University in 2007 and continued her education at Regent University where she received her M. Ed in Supervision and Administration in 2013.  She taught Health and Physical Education at Granby High School from 2007 to 2013 while coaching Softball, Basketball and Volleyball. She then returned to Virginia Beach City Public Schools to become instructional leader of Health and Physical Education, coach Boys Varsity Volleyball as well as teach in the Innovation Lab at Green Run High School.  She is now the School Improvement Specialist at Green Run High School. She resides in Chesapeake with her family and is a proud mother of one son.

 Twyman

Ms. Shani Twyman– Student Activities Coordinator  Ms. Twyman is a proud graduate of Kellam High School in Virginia Beach.  She earned her B.S. in Mathematics from the University of Maryland and continued her education at Old Dominion University where she earned her MBA.  Ms. Twyman taught mathematics at Tallwood High School and Central Academy, worked as the School Improvement Specialist at Landstown High School, and facilitated the Online Learning Lab at Renaissance Academy and Graduation Lab at Green Run High School. Prior to serving as the Student Activities Coordinator at Green Run High School, for the past 22 years Ms. Twyman has sponsored countless activities and served on numerous committees for Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  Ms. Twyman and her family reside in Virginia Beach, and she is the proud mother of three.

Palmer

Mrs. Valerie Palmer– School Counseling Chair

Mrs. Palmer comes to Green Run High School with a wide variety of secondary and post-secondary counseling and advising experience. Originally from Pennsylvania, Mrs. Palmer graduated from Lock Haven University with her B.A. in Psychology and then from The Pennsylvania State University with her M. Ed in Counselor Education and immediately went on to earn her credentials as a Nationally Board Certified Counselor. Since then, Mrs. Palmer has worked in both elementary and secondary levels as a school counselor in Maryland and Virginia, as a Senior Assistant Director of Admissions for a small liberal arts College and worked in the Virginia Community College System as a Counselor and Adviser. Additionally, Mrs. Palmer has maintained membership in several State and National level counseling organizations, such as ASCA and VSCA, where she has both earned additional credentials and has contributed to the growth of the school counseling profession through presenting at conferences, holding board member positions, and publishing articles. Mrs. Palmer lives in Virginia Beach with her growing family.
