Mr. C. Todd Tarkenton – Principal
Mr. Tarkenton is a proud graduate of the Virginia Beach City Public Schools. He earned a B.S. in Kinesiology from the College of William and Mary in 1992. While teaching 7th and 8th grade science and coaching basketball and baseball at Landstown Middle School from 1995 to 2005, he earned his M.Ed. in Supervision and Administration from the University of Virginia in 2004. Mr. Tarkenton then served as an assistant principal at Ocean Lakes High School from 2005 to 2011. After receiving his Certificate of Advanced Graduate Studies from Regent University in 2010, he became the Director of Instructional Services in the Department of Curriculum and Instruction in February, 2011. Mr. Tarkenton was appointed as principal of Green Run High School in July, 2013. Mr. Tarkenton resides in Virginia Beach with his wife, who is a teacher in VBPCS, and their two sons, ages 16 and 14, who attend high school in VBCPS.

  

Mr. John Cosimano – 12th Grade Assistant Principal 
Mr. Cosimano is a proud product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools. After being a member of the 50th graduating class of Princess Anne High School, he earned a Bachelor of Science degree in Biological Sciences from Virginia Tech in 2009. Mr. Cosimano then continued his education at Old Dominion University, earning an Master of Science degree in Secondary Education in 2012 and an Education Specialist degree in Educational Leadership in 2014. He is currently working toward his Ph.D. in Educational Leadership at Old Dominion University. Working and living in Virginia Beach all of his life, he began professionally as a high school science teacher at Princess Anne High School where he taught Earth Science, Chemistry, MYP Chemistry, Biology, IB Biology and AP Biology. Mr. Cosimano then moved to Kempsville High School to serve as School Improvement Specialist in June 2014. Next, in August 2015, he was able to serve at Virginia Beach Middle School as an Administrative Assistant before becoming a Stallion in July 2016. His wife, Katie Cosimano, is a VBCPS high school Student Activities Coordinator, and his daughter Maggie is growing up at school events like Mr. Cosimano - as both of his parents are retired secondary language teachers who spent 35+ years as active participants in their respective VBCPS school communities.

 

Ms. Leslie Lehner – 11th Grade Assistant Principal 
Ms. Lehner is a graduate of Salem High School in Virginia Beach City Public Schools. She earned a B.S. in Business Management from Virginia Tech, a M.Ed. in Secondary Education Mathematics from Old Dominion University, and an Ed.S. in Educational Leadership from Old Dominion University. Prior to serving as an Assistant Principal at Green Run, Ms. Lehner served as an Administrative Assistant at Green Run High School, Algebra 1 and Virginia Teachers for Tomorrow teacher at Salem High School, and a 6th grade math teacher at Larkspur Middle School.

  

Mrs. Mikaela Gilchrist – 10th Grade Assistant Principal 
Mrs. Gilchrist is a proud product of Virginia Beach City Public Schools, graduating from Salem High School. She completed her undergraduate studies at Virginia Tech where she earned her B.S. in Communication.  Later she went on to earn her Masters in Special Education at Cambridge College and completed her advanced degree studies at The George Washington University in Educational Leadership and Administration. Mrs. Gilchrist began her career in public education with VBCPS as a Special Education Teacher at Landstown High School. While at Landstown she served as SCA advisor, Assistant Student Activities Coordinator, and coached the Forensics team.  Prior to her arrival at Green Run High School, Mrs. Gilchrist was the School Improvement Specialist at Independence Middle School. Mr. and Mrs. Gilchrist became the proud parents of a baby girl, Emory Louise, last fall.

 

Ms. Elizabeth C. Pickett – 9th Grade Assistant Principal 
Mrs. Pickett has been an Assistant Principal at Green Run High School since 2014. She graduated from Virginia Beach City Public Schools, then earned a Bachelor of Science from Radford University, a Master of Arts from The Ohio State University, and an Education Specialist degree from The University of Virginia. Mrs. Pickett taught Social Studies for nine years in a neighboring division, while also coaching field hockey and volleyball. In 2011, she returned to VBCPS and became the School Improvement Specialist at Tallwood High School. Mrs. Pickett lives in Virginia Beach with her husband and their two young children.

 

Ms. Shannon Drury – Student Activities Coordinator
Ms. Drury is a proud graduate of Frank W. Cox High School in Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  She earned a B.B.A. in Sports Management from the University of Miami and continued her education at Southern New Hampshire University where she earned her MBA.  Ms. Drury taught Business and Leadership Skills at Frank W. Cox High School, while coaching Girls’ Varsity Basketball and sponsoring the SCA/Leadership Workshop.  She spent one year at Princess Anne High School teaching Business, coordinating Princess Anne’s Leadership Workshop, and serving as Assistant SAC.  Prior to serving as the Student Activities Coordinator at Green Run, Ms. Drury was the Student Activities Coordinator at Landstown Middle School.  Ms. Drury and her family reside in Virginia Beach and she is the proud mother of her daughter Keely.

 

Ms. Kathy Ferrell – Guidance Chair
Mrs. Ferrell, a native of Hopewell, Virginia, received her B.S. in Psychology and her Masters in Counselor Education from Virginia Commonwealth University.  She is an experienced school counselor, who has worked in alternative and comprehensive settings at the Middle School and High School levels.  Mrs. Ferrell takes great pride in helping students unlock their true potential.  As a member of ASCA, the American School Counselor Association, Mrs. Ferrell works to ensure that the School Counseling Department at Green Run meets the academic, social, emotional and college and career needs of all Stallions.

 

Mrs. Corey M. Bacs – School Improvement Specialist 
Mrs. Bacs is a proud graduate of First Colonial High School in Virginia Beach City Public Schools.  She earned a B.A. in Special Education and a M.Ed. in Learning and Technology from Western Governors University. In 2016, she earned her Ed.S. in Educational Leadership and Administration from George Washington University. Prior to working at Green Run High School as the School Improvement Specialist, Mrs. Bacs taught as a special education teacher, co-teaching English 6, at Virginia Beach Middle School and as a special education assistant at W.T. Cooke Elementary School. Mrs. Bacs resides in Virginia Beach with her husband Charlie and is the proud mother of Ryley (Radford University), Griffin (at VCU), and Miles (a junior at First Colonial High School).
